False.
Jesus was not a girly girl, he was a MAN. His hair was not shampooed and conditioned before he was crucified, he did not go to the spa before dying, he had no make up artists to cover the gashes, cuts, bruises, and wounds all over his face and body. These pictures all depict the opposite: Jesus hanging on the cross looking beautiful as if what he went through was easy.
Here is what scripture tells us about that time:
“But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.” -Isaiah 52:14
Isaiah says that people could hardly even recognize him to be human, he was beaten to a bloody, fleshy pulp and somehow, that mess of flesh was nailed to a cross for all to see. This man was God, and God was beaten beyond recognition for your life! He was not hanging there looking pretty, making it look easy, and it is not to be taken as lightly as Hollywood portrays it. The king, the creator of the world and all of these people was beaten to a point where he no longer looked like a man, so that you may know him, know salvation, know eternal life! He did not do this so that you could go about life living as you please, even though he knew many would, but he did this to make a way for you!
You know how he is portrayed in art and through movies, but none of them compares to what he truly looked like! None of them show what he truly went through, and it went MUCH deeper than that beaten and torn flesh, something no picture or movie could ever accurately display. And you know what…
It was all for YOU!
Hopefully someone will look at me this way. Beautiful.
I’m a huge Disney fan and Beauty and the Beast has been my favorite since I was 3. I chose to permanently have it on my skin, not only because of that, but because of the message it sends. Beauty truly is within and I think more people need to realize this. I’ve been planning this tattoo for 5 years now, researching for the perfect tattoo artist. I finally found Juan at Exclusive Ink in Salinas, Ca. It came out better than I ever could’ve imagined. This is just the start and the highlight of my Disney sleeve.
